The Mad River Chapter of the American Red Cross is holding their first Arts & Crafts Market on Saturday, May 9, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. inside the Bellefontaine Senior High School.
The Mad River Chapter is asking for vendors who would like to participate in the Market and have their goods displayed and sold to the public. If you are interested, contact Mad River Chapter Executive Director Mildrena Brown at (937) 650-5000. Vendors must sign up by April 25, 2009. There is a small, $40 vendor fee to participate.
For those who love to browse and buy local Arts & Crafts, make sure you mark your calendar for May 9, 2009. Since Mother's Day is May 10, this is a great time to do last minute shopping for Mom.
Proceeds from the Arts & Crafts Market go to support local Red Cross disaster relief efforts,

    Indian Lake Elks #2792 is having their 11th Annual Wacky boat Races and Parrot Head Party August 1st. at Russells Point Harbor. The Parrot Head Party is held on their parking lot at 138 East Main Street, Russells Point, across from the Harbor. Proceeds benefit the Ohio Elks State Charity, Cerebral Palsy.     August 8, 2009 - Putt Around The Lake
    By boat or car putt around 17 establishments around the lake with a team of four.
    Entry fee is $60.00. Starts at 10:00 AM and must be finished by 7:00 PM
    Contact the Eagles 3615, 14011 Collingwood, Lakeview 937-842-4790 to register. A team is 4 players. The event begins at 10 AM. and ends at 7:00 PM.
    Putt Around the Lake Golf Outing Rules

    Each team will be made up of four players. There will be shotgun start at 10:00 a.m. Teams will begin play at the establishment in which they registered. The event committee may assign a team a different starting location if numerous teams register at any one establishment. You must play 9 holes. You can play all 17 holes and take the best 9 for your score. Each team must complete their round by 7:00 p.m. and score card turned in at the last hole played if you feel you are a winner. The lowest team score wins the tournament. In the case of a tie , there will be a coin toss between judges/scorekeepers. All rulings by the official judges will be final. Each establishment will have a judge/scorekeeper.

    There will be no practice shots
    All balls hit out of bounds will result in a one stroke penalty
    5 stroke maximum per hole

    August 15, 2009- Duck Blind Drawing
    Indian Lake State Park "Duck Blind" Drawing will be conducted on Saturday August 15, 2009 at 8:00 am at the Park Office. The drawing will be held to permit the construction of permanent duck hunting blinds at 34 sites on Indian Lake. Applicants must show their current or last year's hunting license, and current or last year's federal duck stamp and current or last year's validated state wetland stamp. Successful applicants shall pay the $50.00 permit fee construct a blind on the designated location within 45 days of the issuance of the permit.

    September 6 , 2009 - Ring of Fire - 9:00 PM
    The Ring of Fire ceremony is a traditional activity celebrating a bountiful harvest and marks the end of the summer season. Flares are lighted around the perimeter of the lake at precisely 9:00 PM. If you own waterfront property you are invited to share in this ceremony. Flares can be purchased at Spend-A-Day Marina and many other business locations around the lake. Volunteers will light the State Park grounds.

    September 25-27th, 2009 -30th Annual Fall Festival

    The 30th Annual Fall Festival will be held at the Indian Lake campground on September 25th, 26th and 27th, 2008. This is one of the most popular events in Logan County with over 15,000 people attending each year.

    The Festival features over 100 art and craft displays including country crafts, woodworking, oil painting, iron work, quilting, applique shirts and cardigans, decorated herbs, floral arrangements, jewelry, toll painting, wreath making, crotchet work, and much, much more. All vendors offer their work for sale at a reasonable price.

    There is also plenty of local entertainment at the Festival. Area bands Razzmatazz & Jazz, B.J. & Billie, Jim Greer & the Mac-O-Chee Valley Folks, Roscoe & His Little Green Men, West Central Swing Band, Country Expressions and the Madriver Valley Dulcimer Group will play at their scheduled times during the Festival. A real crowd pleaser, Jo Anne's School of Dance, will perform on Sunday morning from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. These young dancers clog, tap, and do all forms of modern dance. A square dance will be held Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. "Just Friends" will perform and "call" for the square dance.

    Indian Lake Park staff will have fresh apple cider during the Festival. Free samples are available for all visitors. Park employees also cook their famous venison stew. A long line forms around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday for this crowd favorite.

    Food is in ample supply during the weekend. The I.L. Chamber of Commerce, Kenton Coffee Cups, Indian Lake Community Church, & Knights of Columbus, are only a few of the many vendors providing a variety of sandwiches, snacks, desserts, meals, and beverages.

    On Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m., the Seedsowers provide an entertaining inspirational program for all faiths. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources will have wildlife, and parks display in the Festival area. Other attractions will be the Rescue and Miami Valley Care Flight fly-in and demonstration on both Saturday and Sunday.

    Hay wagons will take participants down to the festival area. The Indian Lake campground is located 2 miles north of Lakeview on State Route 235.

    Please make plans to attend and enjoy the weekend.

    • Outreach Center open Tuesdays and Thursdays 10-3 and on Saturday mornings from 9-12. Offering basic supplies and nice used clothing for the community on Burkart Ave.in place of the Craft House. We help low income people with paper products: diapers, toilet tissue, Kleenex, soap powder, bath soap, toothpaste, etc.

    Our worship service begins at 11:00 a.m. every Sunday morning. You can sing along with the band, be enticed by drama team, and catch a relevant and Biblical message.

    It doesn't matter what you wear, where you come from, or who you are. We welcome you. We are wheelchair accessible and A.D.A. compliant.

    Nursery: We have a staffed nursery for infants up through the age of 4.
    Junior Church: Following the morning s youth message, the kids are engaged in age-appropriate Bible lessons, incorporating crafts, songs, puppets, and other great ways that capture the attention of our youth.

    Russells Point Neighborhood Watch
    The Russells Point Neighborhood watch has regular community meetings every third Thursday of every month at 7:00 PM at the Municipal Building in Russells Point.

    Chippewa Neighborhood Watch Group
    Meets at the Chippewa neighborhood Outreach Center on the 3rd Monday of every month at 5:00pm, unless a federal holiday falls on that day, then we plan around that.
    We bring a potluck meal and discuss ways to help our neighbors fight crime. We look out for the elderly around us.We also support the outreach center by sharing in activities for the youth.
